Our technology aggregates location-specific data from sites like Facebook, Twitter, Google, Yelp and others, to calculate the popularity of specific events based on your networks of friends.
Unique to The Hotlist is the combination of places, events, friends and friends of friends, which gives you the most complete picture of what’s happening and ensures that you’re fully informed on what to expect before you head out.
Don’t worry – everything that you do on The Hotlist is synchronized with your Facebook account, so whatever you update about your plans here will automatically show up there.
No - at this time we require that you have a Facebook account so we can easily show you what your friends are up to, and customize the feed of events and places to your particular preferences.
The Hotlist is 100% synchronized with your Facebook privacy settings. This means that any information that you want to be private or restricted for only certain people to see on Facebook (e.g., your hometown) will be treated exactly the same on The Hotlist.
As for location-specific data, we understand that not everybody has access to or wants GPS data to pinpoint their exact location. Therefore, our platform integrates alternative non-GPS sources and only shares location when you explicitly declare it, and with those people that you allow in your user-defined settings. Nobody will know where you are unless you want them to.
The Hotlist pulls events from a number of sources, many of which come from Facebook. Only public, unrestricted events appear on The Hotlist and are only visible to members of The Hotlist.
