Hotlist is an interactive guide to everything happening amongst friends and networks at venues and events around the world.
Let's be honest... having a social life, keeping up with what's going on and
balancing everything in your life is not easy. Coordinating with friends and
staying in the loop is a task in and of itself, so we thought of something to
make your life simpler.
One day, a few of us friends sat down and decided we were going to put
an end to this by building tools that enhance social networking. After much
research, planning and development, Hotlist was born. With Hotlist, you
can interactively see what's happening on campus and within your various
circles of friends with something we call a
Social Map. Putting everything
from parties and concerts, to group meetings and sporting events at your
fingertips, you can see what's most popular on any given day or night.
We've made it easier to stay in the loop about the best places to eat and
chill so you can utilize your time catching up with friends instead of
coordinating with them!
It was our senior year of college, and a group of us were headed out for a
night in the city. Unfortunately, it was one of those busts of a night: we paid
too much, the crowd sucked and our friends were all over the place. Later
that night, we thought "Wouldn't it be cool to see what our friends were up
to?" and sketched a map of NYC on a cocktail napkin. A few weeks later,
we launched a small website to help organize students' social life. Word
started to spread and, before we knew it, thousands of students were
logging into our site. The site had a ton of bugs and crashed like
clockwork, but we knew we were on to something. So, on a whim, and
badly in need of cash, we entered the Stern Business Plan Competition.
We ended up winning
first place
as the youngest team in history to take
home the $25,000 prize. We accepted the grant and used it to start
building our vision. Since we could not afford an office, NYU gave us a
dorm room. We've come a long way since then, but Hotlist isn't near
perfect yet. So, login and tell us what you think. Our goal is to make Hotlist
insanely useful, so please, don't be shy.
